As the NGBB Herbarium, within the scope of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (2011–2020) Target I "Understanding, documenting and recognising plant diversity", we began work on building a virtual herbarium in 2020. As of 2022, the data and images of the herbarium specimens held in the NGBB Herbarium have been transferred to the web and our virtual herbarium has begun service.

- Sony A7R IV (ILCE-7RM4) — mirrorless full-frame, 61 MP sensor, 19008 × 12672 resolution, 567 focus points, 8–16 bit.
- Lens: Sony SEL50M28 Alpha, 35 mm full-frame F2.8 macro lens.
Lighting
- Pelsan 36 W 220–240 V, LED 6500 K, 60×60 cm panel — 3 units

- Adobe Photoshop 2022, Sony Imaging Edge Desktop, Zoomable Photoshop plugin
Process Steps
The herbarium sheet is placed inside the imaging cabinet; the vacuum and lights are activated. After focusing through the software, 16 frames are captured. A high-resolution image is produced and colour/brightness are adjusted. The image is saved uncompressed in TIFF format (~1.45 GB) under the barcode number. For the Virtual Herbarium, a low-size output (~40.5 MB) is produced via the Zoomable plugin.
